Transit Equity Day 2024!

Transit agencies across Los Angeles are offering free fares on Sunday, February 4th in honour of Transit Equity Day! This initiative pays homage to Rosa Parks’ significant role in desegregating public transit and underscores the right of all people to affordable public transportation. The following transit systems will offer free rides all day:

  • Beeline- hope on, no fares required, plan your trip here.
  • LA Metro- Turnstiles will be unlocked and tap fare will not be required!
  • Metro Micro: book the ride and use code EQ2023.
  • Metrolink & Arrow- Take any seat and ride Metrolink, and Arrow, for free.
  • Metro Bike Share- select ‘1-Ride’ at any Metro Bike Share kiosk, online or in the Metro Bikeshare app, and use code 020423 (can be used any number of times throughout the day)

For riders looking to make further connections, Pasadena Transit, OCTA, Riverside and San Bernardino County transit systems will also be providing free rides. Please note that transit systems in other counties may require a fare, as will Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner.

Go Glendale 2023 Average Vehicle Ridership Survey Results

In 2023, a significant number of individuals resumed in-person work routines more consistently. With the decrease in telework, this year’s Average Vehicle Ridership (AVR) survey reveals  a promising uptick in sustainable commuting modes and transit as opposed to a mass transition back to single-occupancy vehicles. Throughout October, Go Glendale collaborated with the City of Glendale to conduct an AVR survey across our ten member properties in Downtown Glendale. For one week, we asked you about your commute routines, your thoughts on public transportation, and ideas on what changes could make sustainable commutes to and from Glendale even easier. Go Glendale then analyzed and summarized these results, bringing you the final results in this post.

As a note, the Average Vehicle Ridership is a ratio of the number of employee/resident trips over the number of vehicle trips. The higher the ratio, the fewer vehicle trips are being taken in comparison to all trips.

We appreciate all the residents and employees of our member properties that took the time to take the annual Go Glendale Downtown Commute Survey. We had a great time interacting with our member residents and employees during our Commuter Survey tabling events. It’s Time Again for Go Glendale’s Annual Residential Survey!

It is the time of the year again to survey residents and employees of our member properties about how they commuted to and from work. This year we are asking residents/employees how they commuted during the week of September 25th to September 29th, 2023. The purpose of the survey is to enable the City to better understand how residents and employees commute and help guide the City’s future transportation plans and programs. The survey is a mandatory requirement of the City of Glendale and we need your help to encourage people to fill out the survey.

This survey closes October 27th and anyone who submits will be automatically entered into the raffle to win 1 of 3 $50 gift cards to a local restaurant!

Come By Glendale’s Bike Safety Workshop on June 22nd!

Join Go Glendale for an in-person workshop on bike safety on June 22nd. The workshop will be conducted by Nathalie Winiarski, League of American Bicyclists’ League Cycling Instructor.

Topics will include – how to perform a helmet check, how to perform a quick bike check and rules of the road. There will also be some snacks and refreshments for all attendees.

The workshop will be held at the City of Glendale Municipal Services Building, Room 105, located at 633 E Broadway

Drop By Go Glendale, Walk Bike Glendale, and the City of Glendale’s Bike & Walk To Work Day Pit Stops!

Bike & Walk to Work Day is around the corner! Go Glendale and Walk Bike Glendale will be hosting a pitstop at 800 N Brand on Wednesday, May 17 from 8 am to 10 am. Additionally, there will be a pit stop at Glendale City Hall from 8 am to 10 am, hosted by the City of Glendale.

Join us for giveaways, snacks, and refreshments! We will be there rain or shine to support you!

More than 80% of bike commuters say they feel healthier and less stressed. Probably because they’re getting exercise, saving money, and doing something good for the environment. Be one of those people!

Go Glendale 2022 Average Vehicle Ridership Survey Results

In 2022, many of us started returning to our jobs in-person on a more regular basis. Despite more regular commuting habits, this year’s Average Vehicle Ridership (AVR) survey demonstrates an even higher commitment to sustainability than last year.

Throughout the month of October, Go Glendale partnered with the City of Glendale to conduct an AVR survey with each of our eight member properties in Downtown Glendale. For one week, we asked you about your commute routines, your thoughts on public transportation, and ideas on what changes could make sustainable commutes to and from Glendale even easier. Go Glendale then analyzed and summarized these results, bringing you the final results in this post.

As a note, the Average Vehicle Ridership is a ratio of the number of employee/resident trips over the number of vehicle trips. The higher the ratio, the fewer vehicle trips are being taken in comparison to all trips.

Thank you to the eight properties that participated in the Go Glendale AVR survey this year! This year, we saw a decrease in telecommuting, along with an increase in sustainable modes, and a decrease in single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) trips. With transit frequencies back to pre-pandemic levels as of December 11th and more improvements happening in the coming years, Go Glendale is optimistic that this trend can continue in the coming months and years.

With an AVR score of 2.43 (when averaging AM and PM trips), we are still well above our goal of 1.25. However, there is still much work to be done to keep this number high as we continue to recover from the commute disruptions of the pandemic.
